Floor Drying in Water Damages

Floor Drying in Water Damages

As a homeowner, do you ever worry about your real wood floors when you have water damage and you do not know if they can be saved or not. They are a costly restore and/or replace, but here at SERVPRO of Biloxi, Ocean Springs, & Gulfport we have the equipment to dry hardwood floors in place. We use a floor drying mat system and they are used on high risk areas of hidden moisture in and under flooring. It works by removing moist air with negative pressure from the material. Air movement then becomes a transport vehicle for moisture.

It cannot be used on vinyl flooring, drywall, and environments over 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

Call SERVPRO of Biloxi today!

***Please note that not all water damages are created equal. Each situation may require different drying methods.

This photo shows a water line after a house flooded during a bad rain storm in Texas. When a bad flood happens, sewage backup, or water sits for days it is considered a Category 3 loss. This means baseboards, drywall, insulation, and affected flooring and other affected material must be removed and disposed of. In this room we removed baseboards, removed affected sheetrock 2 ft. up and any insulation on interior walls (not shown in picture). This room does not need flooring removed because it is a tile floor and can be sanitized with an antimicrobial and dried in place.

Here at SERVPRO of Biloxi we are always ready to help with any size disaster!

SERVPRO of Biloxi does Air Quality Mold testing

SERVPRO of Biloxi does Air Quality Mold testing

SERVPRO of Biloxi, Ocean Springs, & Gulfport offers air quality testing for suspecting mold in your home or business. Once the lab receives the air sample we receive a report back with the findings. This detailed report lets us know the elevation and type of spores in the air and we can then begin remediation.

An air quality sample before and after doing mold remediation is recommended to verify the spore count has decreased.

Call SERVPRO of Biloxi today for any mold questions. We are ALWAYS here to help.

Water loss and Mold

Water loss and Mold

This picture shows a water leak underneath laminate flooring affecting the pad. Here at SERVPRO of Biloxi, Ocean Springs, and Gulfport we can detect moisture under flooring, in walls, and different building materials. This is a common mistake homeowners make when they have a “small” water leak and it is not dried properly to IICRC standards. It is also commonly thought that if it was a small leak it would not travel very far, but in reality it does with movement and time. Leaving this wet and to dry on its own with no dehumidification or air movement it can grow mold. The mold can grow and spread very fast! Call us today if you need a moisture check after a small or large water loss. 228-396-3965.

Thermal Fogging

Thermal Fogging

What is Thermal fogging?

Thermal fogging is an effective smoke odor removal procedure because it recreates the fire related properties of heat and pressurization. Porous material pick up thermally activated deodorant droplets in the same manner in which they picked up the smoke odors, closely duplicating what occurs during a fire.

Content Cleaning for Fire

Content Cleaning for Fire

When a fire happens it causes soot. (Soot: A black powdery or flaky substance consisting largely of amorphous carbon, produced by the incomplete burning of organic matter.) Soot gets in the HVAC system, on contents, and structure. SERVPRO of Biloxi, Ocean Springs, & Gulfport can clean your home after Fire damage to make it "Like it never even Happened".

FIRE DEODORIZATION – LARGE LOSS COMMERCIAL

FIRE DEODORIZATION – LARGE LOSS COMMERCIAL

This is a large commercial fire damage we produced as a result of an electrical malfunction. SERVPRO of Biloxi, Ocean Springs, Gulfport, & Pascagoula had a first responder on site quickly to expedite cleaning, demolition, and deodorization scope and planning. As this was a gymnasium, the vast majority of space was warehouse, with built-in tiered offices and party rooms. Total affected space in the building was 15,500 square feet, which made for an enormous amount of volume to conduct final deodorization. After weeks of demolition and specialized cleaning, we conducted thermal fogging for the final deodorization. The before photo shows the two technicians donned in their proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and fogging the entire cubic foot of the gym.

Steven, Casey, and Perry (from left to right) saving a baby Raccoon

Steven, Casey, and Perry (from left to right) saving a baby Raccoon

On May 10, 2016, SERVPRO of Biloxi-Ocean Springs technicians encountered a new way to help. While on-site conducting quality water mitigation services at a home in Gulfport MS, what peered out at them while removing wet drywall ceilings melted their hearts. A lone baby raccoon, that was barely able to walk, was found abandoned and mother-less. Technicians Steven Riley, Perry Favor, and Casey Gullotta decided to be SERVPRO HERO READY in a different way. They safely secured the animal in box lined with soft towels, and contacted Gulf Coast Wildlife Rehab (www.gulfcoastwildliferehab.org), which came quickly thereafter to the rescue. The baby raccoon will receive top notch healthcare to ensure a happy quality of life. Hats off to these young men for going above and beyond for ALL life!

While on any bio hazard clean we must dress in PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) per OSHA guidelines to protect ourselves from any hazardous conditions that we may encounter on a job. An example of a bio hazard clean is a pathogen clean or sewer back up.
